Tips In Making Your Job Application Cover Letter Worthy To Read

By Paulette Mason

When people write a cover letter that is so powerful, it will surely highlight their best qualifications and gets their resumes read. While there is no single best type of format for your cover letter, there are guidelines when doing it. Cover letter proofreading is one of the best tips that must be done correctly.

The tips will definitely make it strong and well published. First is to address it to a specific person or individual. If possible, you must address it to the specific individual. If the posting does not have the name of the person or the owner then you can research for it to find out the person you are addressing.

Also, you must try calling the employer if it is possible to call him or her. If there is an ad that states phone calls are not allowed then do follow it. Another way is to ask the receptionist for his or her name. Always keep it professional in away by using addresses like Miss Smith or Mr. Jones. Be specific with their names as much as possible.

When writing a particular kind of cover letter and you cannot find the name of the manager then use words like Dear Hiring Manager or any as long as it is professionally made. Avoid words like To Whom It May Concern, etc. Everything must be very presentable including the hand signing of the mailed letters to avoid the fact that you are mass mailing them.

Also, minimize the word I, restate it as something that will say what you can do for them and not the other way around. The main thought must be about the things that you can contribute to the company. Keep everything simple as well by using 12 point Times New Roman along with bullets and just short paragraphs.

Always have a creative closing. Never use the overrated thank you for your consideration or sincerely. Think of something different that will make it stand out and be remembered by them. You can try any uncommon words enthusiastically yours, with my best regards, yours always, good wishes always and so on.

Customize it as well to fit the job you are applying for. Customizing it can make it match the kind of work that you will be doing when you are hired. It should highlight the different qualifications of the job along with other keywords that will make it relevant.

Always make your printed copies attractive and clean. For paper copies, do your best to have the highest quality stationary and a high performing printer. It is the first impression you will make and so be sure that it is a professional one or you will lose your chance of being hired.

Always keep everything brief and simple. Write a letter that is half page or two thirds page in length. The basic purpose is to get them read it and not restate it. When you write it brief and clear then they will appreciate the fact that you understand the value of their time in reading other application letters as well.
