Bathroom Vent Fan And Medicine Cabinets

By Darren Hartley

The importance of a bathroom vent fan to a bathroom lies in its ability to remove, warm moist air from the room interior that could possible result in the development of mold. Warm, moist air is also a factor in the possible damage of the area. A bathroom vent fan also exhausts smelly air out of the room to prevent it from smelling musty.

Some modern versions of a properly installed bathroom vent fan come complete with a light. Other models even offer a heater option. Controlling the fan is through a single-pole switch or a wall-mounted timer. Where it is positioned within the bathroom is a preference of the homeowner. It can be placed over the toilet or in the center of the room. The assurance that it closes properly when not in use is gained through the correct installation of the vent flapper.

The vent flapper of a bathroom vent fan keeps the cold air from the outside from filtering back into the bathroom. To keep condensation from building up from the temperature difference between the outer and inner air temperatures, the flexible hose of the fan should be insulated.

By definition, bathroom medicine cabinets are storage repositories for medicine and hygienic products. Their difference to medicine boxes or chests lies in the fact that they are usually hang from the wall at eye-level while the latter are free-standing repositories.

Bathroom medicine cabinets are also different from first aid boxes in the items they contain. While both may contain plasters, medicine cabinets contain ointments, pills and creams while first aid boxes contain bandages, tapes and dressings.

It is in keeping only the frequently used items that the easy organization of bathroom medicine cabinets is all about. All other paraphernalia are then relegated to a drawer or under the sink. The jars in the cabinet must be kept clear at all times so that identification of its contents is easily and readily manageable.

A problem may arise when talking about bathroom medicine cabinets shared by two people. What items each person is allowed to keep in the cabinet may be a cause for discussion and debate. However, to make a long story short, suffice it to say that each person can only keep items used on a daily basis in the cabinet.
